The cottage on this property already had a small voice of it's own.....it just hadn't been heard in years. So I started by cleaning it. Deep cleaning it. The intent for this cottage was to a comfortable and casual "basecamp" for the property. In following The Joy Project edicts, this home was to be more for play than for work. I took encouragement and found permissions from the house itself; and embraced all of the charming imperfections.

By cleaning and restoring the cottage, we have been able to bring out its unique character and charm.

Embracing the vintage elements of the cottage was an enjoyable part of the process, as it adds to the character and history of the space. It's a great reminder that perfection isn't always necessary or even desirable, and that imperfections can make a space feel more authentic and lived-in.

Overall, I have taken a whimsical yet intentional approach to this decor. And like The Joy Project, the cottage is now a special place where we together to enjoy the natural beauty of the property.
